About Us

Smith Building Services was established in 1991 by Bernie Smith FCIOB, MBEng consisting of a small team of operatives mainly carrying out maintenance on the various RAF bases in Norfolk. As time went by, the company grew larger, as did the client base. In 1999, Smith Building Services became a limited company. Our current client base now boasts the likes of the National House Building Council (NHBC), Persimmon Homes, Taylor Wimpey, Willmott Dixon, Borough Council of King's Lynn & West Norfolk, Oxfam, Peverel Retirement, Home Group to name a few. We cover a large area from our offices based in King's Lynn, Norfolk. We have recently completed contracts in London, Milton Keynes, Northampton, Cambridge, Ipswich, Norwich and on the North Norfolk Coast.

Although we carry out works for many large national companies, we are very responsive to all project sizes. We pride ourselves on our knowledgeable and competent staff. We have many regular residential & business customers based in King's Lynn and it's neighbouring towns and villages, who call on our repair & maintenance services frequently.  A typical project for us could consist of anything from hanging a door to installing a kitchen, or repointing cracked mortar to carrying out an extensive Helifix scheme to completely stitch a building back together.

We are able to offer responsive/reactive (ad-hoc) maintenance, as and when required or we can assist with your planned preventative maintenance plan. We can also assist with investigations from tower scaffolding or Mobile Elevating Work Platforms (MEWPs) using our in-house trained staff.

Comprehensive and Detailed Quotations

Due to the uncertain nature of remedial works, it is very difficult to produce a quotation that allows for every eventuality.  This becomes very apparent when working with historic buildings where centuries of repairs have been undertaken, to varying standards, where walls could contain many layers of lath & plaster, plasterboard & skim, timber panelling, wallpaper etc.  At Smith Building Services Ltd, using our experience in the repair and maintenance industry, along with expertise in working in all manner of property types, both new and old, we always endeavour to provide customers with detailed quotations itemising exactly what we have allowed for. This allows potential customers to easily see what they will be getting for their money.
